I think that Obama's plan is going to do a great job. It seems to have a very good sense of security. He made me realize the reality of how hard it is to get healthcare. People in this country really need it and they cannot afford it. People would be able to buy it at a competitive price. Many people were disrespectful, one of the senator’s called Obama a liar. Obama’s main objective is to make sure that its easy and fair for everyone to get the healthcare that they need.

I think that Obama has a wonderful idea for healthcare. People don't realize how hard it is for others to get it. Many people cannot even afford it and I'm glad that he is making it easier to achieve it.

The main objectives of the health care plan put forward by President Obama is to provide health care for all U.S. citizens. He wants to provide full coverage for all Americans, not just insurance that will cover only part of the cost of the medical related incident. Obama wants to provide more security and stability for those who currently have health insurance. For those without health insurance, he wants to help them buy health insurance, offer a public option for those who cannot find affordable coverage, cover businesses’ employees, and offer new low-cost coverage to protect those from financial problems. It will lower the cost of health care for everyone. Obama wants to make insurance work better for the American people.
Obama’s speech answered the questions that I might have about the health care reform. He explains everything thoroughly in his health care reform speech. The questions I would want to ask President Obama is if our taxes are going to be increased due to the health care reform. Since its health care for everyone within the United States, wouldn’t we all have to ‘chip’ in? Like Obama says, everyone has to do their part in order to make the health care reform work
This address doesn’t shape or change any views I’ve had on this issue. I think it’s a good idea to try to provide everyone with health care. Yet, there are still some issues that need to be worked out. Honestly, I do not know enough about the health care issues going on within the United States but from what I do know I think what Obama is trying to do is a good thing. He’s trying to make health insurance more stable and secure for everyone.
The members of Congress reacted to this address by not agreeing with government run health care. In Obama’s speech, he claims that democrats and republicans are both teaming up for the health care reform but some republicans are not following Obama’s plan. Some Republicans believe that there shouldn’t be government-run health care. They believe that there are different ways to provide health care to those who are uninsured. They have developed many different acts to help different people’s health care issues.
This issue affects me because it could help with the prices of my medicines and the coverage that I would get if something serious happens to me. I think that everyone should have health care. I don’t know enough about the health care issues that are happening today but I do know that prices have gone way up when dealing with peoples’ health. People have been dropped from their insurance companies and have not been fully covered. I think the plan is only trying to help keep people secure and stable with their health care.
I believe that Obamas views on healthcare are going to benefit the people of the US greatly. His ojective is to provide healthcare for all US citizens, and offer a public option for those who cannot find affordable coverage. His speech really demonstrates just how connected he really is to the people of this country in the sense that he knows how bad our economy has gotten in terms of finances, etc. Most people cannot afford healthcare, and his speech is assuring that he will do all that he can to help any citizen that needs healthcare, but cant financially afford it.
Obama answered many of the questions that I had intended to ask about healthcare, and I am very content with the answers that he gave. So far, Obamas opinions on the issues facing us in today's society are ones that I not only agree with, but feel would be best for everyone living in the US. Providing everyone with healthcare really does show that he doesn't "look over" anyone, and that he really does want the best for the American people. He is an amazing president so far, and I support his views on healthcare greatly.
I completely support Obama’s healthcare plan. He makes a strong point by expressing that we have collectively failed at developing an effective healthcare system. He proves this by saying how self employed people are unable to afford healthcare, many middle-class Americans are denied insurance from their employers and how others are denied it because of a previous accident or injury. I felt he really hit the nation hard when he said “We are the only wealthy nation that allows such hardship for millions of its people.” He also connects to the people of the nation who have health insurance by saying that they have never had less security than they do today. He declares that he doesn’t want to make a radical change to our current healthcare situation, but rather build on what we have.
Obama’s plan meets three goals:
1) Provide stability and security for the people who already have health insurance
2) Provide insurance for those who don’t have it
3) Slow the growth of healthcare costs for families, businesses, and government
For people who are already insured, nothing in Obama’s plan requires them to change their own plan.
I felt that Obama’s speech answered all questions/concerns that I had about healthcare and the nation’s future. I feel that most people who are against this plan are selfish and only think of themselves. I am happy that universal healthcare will finally reach the United States.
Obama's Health Care Address seems to be a good idea.It helps the people who dont have the funds to see a doctor when they are sick, or pay for health care in general. people cant be so uptight about this, its only going to help the people who need the help in keeping illnesses at bay, and prevent the spread of serious illnesses. Obama just wants the people who arent as well off to be able to have the benefits that others have.

Even people without health coverage, Obama wants people who can't afford health coverage to somehow make it possible. His speech definitely answered all my questions I had about it. I never really knew much about the situation so I never had a view about it. From what I heard and saw, I am definitely for all U.S. citizens having health insurance. The members of congress aren't completely agreeing with what he is saying. He believes that there are some republicans going against him. They believe that there are other ways for this to happen and are pursuing in that course of action.
This is affecting me because I'm an athlete. I tend to end up in the E.R. and if I have good health care, it won't effect my parents as much and I won't get in as much trouble for ending up there. I believe that this is a very good idea, and I'm totally for what Obama is preaching.
I think that Obama had a good idea and has a good sense of what he is doing with this Health Care Plan. Some people can't afford it nowadays and I think it's a great idea. I think Obama's plan may work out well. It gives the lower class citizens a chance to have health care, and not have their bank accounts emptied every time a family member gets sick. Until now, I didn't realize how many people are without health care, and just how many people cannot afford it. It also helped show me how lucky the middle and upper class have it. I couldn't imagine having to worry about breaking the bank because i broke a leg, or have to get cavities filled. But to a large amount of the US, this is a problem. The members of Congress should be ashamed to call Obama a liar. He is just trying to help the lower class with money issues, and to also help them have peace of mind.

President Obama also put forward to all citizens that already have health care that he wants to also end any discrimination against any conditions, eliminate extra charges, and to protect Medicare for seniors. On the other side he also puts forward to all citizens that don’t have health insurance by promising new tax credits, creating a new insurance marketplace, and to provide small businesses tax credits and affordable options.
President Obama’s address has not answered the main questions I am curious to know an answer for. For instance, how much more will the middle class citizens be taxed to support all the U.S. citizens who choose the universal health care option? Also to what extent will U.S. citizens be covered by the plan?

Members of Congress reacted differently to this address. The Republicans in Congress reacted by presenting their own address after President Obama’s. In the Republicans address they listed other possible solutions to address the health care plan.
Lastly this issue affects me because my family will have to pay more taxes if this health care plan is passed. Also my parents might have to change some of the benefits they give to their employees like health care.
I believe that Obama’s health care plan will help better our economy greatly. It will allow many Americans to receive healthcare. Many people today do NOT realize how hard it is for some citizens to get healthcare and simply afford it. No one should be turned down if they are in need of medical attention but with President Obama’s health care plan it will allow anyone who is sick or injured the medical attention they deserve.
I also feel as if the senator that called our President a liar should be ashamed and embarrassed. I felt that President Obama's speech was very motivating. He focused alot on the theme of responsibility, and educational value. President Obama emphasizes the importance of hard work and perserverance. The President's speech points out that if we expand our intellect, we will develop the skills necessary to succeed. I do not feel that the speech was political. I thought that the speech was inspiring,and as the President of the United States, he has the right to address his speech to the students.
The difference between President Reagan's speech and President Obama's speech is that Reagan's speech is political. Reagan mentions different types of government, and compares it to our Democracy.
I feel as if President Obama has a strong plan to help the health care situation our country is currently struggling with. His well thought out ideas of making it easier and more affordable for everyone to get health care really shows his leadership in taking care of the people. It is a difficult task to try and get every American citizen health care, but given our current economy, Obama is trying his best. Though some may not agree with Obama's ideas, I feel as if he will be successful in making the current situation better. President Obama's plan for health care is to try to provide it to all U.S. Citizens. He wants to provide more stability to the people who have health insurance. He wants to give full coverage to all Americans, even the ones who can not even afford health insurance. He wants to protect people who might have financial problems. He states that it will lower health care cost for everyone.
Obama's speech cleared up the questions that i would have asked on the most part. He explained thoroughly about his exact plan to recreate the health care plan for it would be better for all Americans. Some questions that still came to mind are.. when he says health care will be less expensive how will we make up for that money the government is not receiving from health care? Will it be added to taxes?
Before Obama's speech I didn't really pay attention to any of the issues going on with health care so I don't really have an opinion on what was said. With the information I did know about health care his idea seems like a smart choice. Everyone needs health care; so if he makes health care cheaper so everyone including the ones with financial problems can get it then i agree.
The congress does not like the idea of a government run health care plan. In his speech he states that most republicans and democrats agree to reform the health care. They believe that there are better and smarter ways to recreate the health care plan with out getting the government involved too much.
I feel that health care should be provided to everyone. Lowering the price for health care would be great so we can pay for the medicines we buy for everyday living. Due to the recession and many people losing jobs, they can’t afford health care, but with Obama’s new plan, they will be able to. I think it is very important for everyone to have health care, because having good health and living is the most important thing. As for some reactions, when Joe Wilson called Barack Obama a liar while Obama was talking, I thought it was very disrespectful regardless of what he thought about the plan. He is clearly doing everything he can to help the people and fix the healthcare issue; therefore I think it was totally out of place for someone to say something like that. My first impression of Obama's speech was a positive attitude. I actually liked that he acknowledged that the healthcare reform has failed many times and we need to try very hard to change. I bring up the point again...man Obama really knows how to speak to the people. He knows exactly how to say something, and what facts and statstics will stick out to the American people. One line that he said that grabbed my attention was: "We are the only advanced democracy on Earth – the only wealthy nation – that allows such hardships for millions of its people." I didn't really realize that until he had mentioned it. I felt he addressed alot of points that needed to be heard and is really trying to better the Nation.
I feel like Obama's intentions are good, but how does he plan to achieve all of these grandiose goals that he is setting out. I feel it is near impossible to get each and every single American under healthcare. It would be great but let's face it. We don't live in a Utopia. I commend President Obama on trying to stablize the healthcare for EVERYONE, but I honestly don't see it happening. I dont mean to be negative, I'm just trying to speak realistically. I hope it can happen, I'm just not sure how or when.
On a side note, the man screaming "You Lie!" was highly inappropriate, I can see his frustration but that was not needed.
I think that President Obama's plan is full of great ideas and I'm glad that someone's finally tackling the issues that have been going on with health care. While all of it seems great, I really hope his plan gets put into action, and not fall behind other issues. His new plan protects Medicare for seniors, which is good because seniors need health care most. His new plan will make millions of Americans feel more secure about their health care situations. Because many people can't afford health care with the present economy, I'm glad Obama's plan of action makes it more affordable to such people. Also, the plan to eliminate charge for preventative care will help with many things. Because people won't have to pay for things like mammograms and check ups, people will be more on top of their health and disease prevention. After listening to Obama's speech, I didn't have many questions about it. Everything about this plan makes perfect sense to me and I believe it is very necessary. It seems that everyone will benefit from this plan in some if you have insurance or not. One question that I would ask Obama is where is the money going to come from for this plan. He said that it isn't going to cost a dime which is great to hear but the money does have to come from somewhere which is the one thing i don't understand.

Not everyone realizes hoe hard it is to get health insurance. If your job doesn't offer it, then you either have to pay privately or don't have it at all. A women I used to work with could not affored to pay for health insurance privately, so she didn't have it at all. She hadn't been to the doctor in 25 years, and recently her tooth fell out and she needed to replace it. Because she didn't have health insurance, she had to pay $1,800 that she din't have. Obama's plan would help people like this women who need health care but can't afford it.

This health care proposal bothers me, because my parents work hard and pay for their health care, so if this universal system is in place, most likely my family we essentially be paying for lower class America's coverage. This isn't fair.
Obama's main objective is to provide Health Insurance to everyone in the U.S.A. He will do this by offering a public health insurance option to provide the uninsured and those who can’t find affordable coverage.President Obama will also provide new tax credits to help people buy insurance. This is a good because Insurance is very expensive now for people. People can't get the health coverage they need when tehy go into a hospital. It does not matter if you are rich or poor you need health insurance.I like how Obama's plan prevents insurance companies from dropping coverage when people are sick and need it most. His plan also provide Medicare for the elderly. This is good becaause most elderly people cannot afford Health Insurance. One think I do not like is the reaction of other politicians. Calling him a liar was a very disrespectful move just because they do not want to sacrifice some of their life of luxury and give it to the people they have to be rude to the President.
Obama’s main objective is to take control of America’s health programs by regulating insurance companies. The main point is that he will offer federal programs to those who cannot afford insurance from private companies using the same tax money people use now to pay for emergency room costs from those who could not pay. As more people participate in such programs, insurance companies will finally be forced to regulate prices, coverage, and treatment in order to remain in the newly competitive market.
Honestly, I cannot say this speech had a large impact on my views for this program. With lowered insurance rates must come lowered visiting costs, meaning that medical salaries will have to be regulated; a prospect that I still feel is completely unfair as such people work tirelessly for longer than almost any other profession while starting work in more debt than any other profession. Regulation would therefore cause a severe breakdown in the entire medical system as less people will choose to take the medical route and hospitals will have to cut down on treatment expenses. Obviously such a plan cannot be implemented, so I must ask: how can this proposed plan possibly work? When Obama said there were significant details of the plan that had to be worked out, he truly meant it. As far as I am concerned, he has yet to introduce any plan at all.
All the democrats seemed to enjoy the speech as they stood up at almost every applause. After all, who wouldn’t want better treatment for all? But even as a liberal myself, I do understand why the republicans were less amused: they understand how empty the plan is at its current state. Overall, I would say the attitude remained positive for the majority of the audience.
The issue at hand is very important to my future. As a student who has plans for medicine, I need good medical coverage during my schooling years yet a salary to pay back my debts. All I can say right now is that the bill is still empty and I cannot come to any conclusions about what effects it might cause.

Well Obama said some of Republicans are against this plan because they do not want government run health care. They think that are other ways to provide a solution to this problem. This issue affects me because it is an opportunity for me to have insurance under a well defined plan of health care. If anything God forbid happens to anyone this is a security with them that they can use. I believe that everyone should have health care and that this health care plan will provide security to everyone.
The main objectives of the plan that President Obama has put forward include capping out of pocket expenses so that people who are sick do not end up going broke, limiting premium discrimination on gender and age, ending discrimination for people with preexisting conditions, providing new tax credits to make it easier to buy insurance, providing small businesses tax credits and affordable options for covering employees and offering a public health insurance option to provide the uninsured and those who can’t find affordable coverage with a real choice. It also will not add any money to the U.S. deficit, which is a very important point of the plan.
Question I am left with in looking at Obama’s healthcare plan is what will the cost truly be? What will happen if you have healthcare now? Are we going to have to end up paying a bit more money for less coverage? Though I think universal healthcare is a good idea I also think we need to make sure it is truly a benefit and a help rather than make it harder for good healthcare. We need good healthcare for all not the least amount for all. That is my main concern and I would want to know what he would have to say about that. The address did not really change my views on the issue. I still think it is a good idea to have universal healthcare we just need to make sure it is done correctly.

I think both sides need to think about the plan and really come to an agreement. They seemed to feel very differently about Obama’s plan.
This issue affects me because my family is in the middle class. Having universal healthcare would probably help out my family because we are one of those families that are on the fence. If both of my parents were to lose their jobs it might be difficult to afford good healthcare since one has already lost their job. I know I alone have two different prescriptions as well as the other prescriptions my family buys for the five of us. Without healthcare it would be impossible to pay for the medicine. Now with the healthcare we have under my moms job we only have to pay the co-pay, which is a very small portion of the actual cost. I think it is very important issue that needs to be taken care of so that if my family were to loose their jobs we would still be able to take care of our health.

The health care plan presented by President Obama sounds great, but it is also impossible. The very proposal is to provide more care for every American "without spending a dime" This is impossible. For this plan to work there are two possibilities. One there will be a massive tax increase, which would most heavily affect the rich. This possibility is disastrous for the nation, because the super rich will not be affected as they have enough money to balance the loss, but the upper middle class (those families earning over 250,000 a year) will take a massive blow, and most who are already suffering under the +35% tax will with their higher paying jobs for lower paying ones. Because if the government will take care of you what is the point of working hard to try and get ahead when the money is just taken away to pay for the poor.
The second possibility is a government take over of the healthcare system, this is equally as dangerous. If the government takes control of healthcare and dictates pay and compensation for doctors most of them will quit because they are already over worked, and what is the point of working hard for a living when the government will just take care of you? It is wrong to let the government take control of more businesses like it has with GM. The healthcare system we have now is more than adequate. A hospital cannot turn away any person citizen or non, that is why we have emergency rooms. The government should be thankful for this service and give more money to hospitals for it instead of trying to punish them and take control.
I am totally against President Obama's health care plan. It will not help everyone like he is saying; i believe it will only be a "free ride" for those who can't afford health care and it will hurt people who already have it especially the middle class.
Obama wants all citizens of the United States to have health care, and as convenient as this may seem i really dont think it is. My parents already have health care and i think obama will negatively effect the people with healthcare and only benefit the people without it because for them anything is better than nothing. However, for people with health insurance it isn't going to be good. Obama said "it wont add a dime to the deficit and is paid for upfront", but i cant seem to comprehend this because what really costs nothing? The answer would be nothing.
I understand health care is hard to get but there are many people in America who have it so it is obviously possible; it's called getting a job, working, and making money...something called hardwork. I think his plan is nothing but a free ride and i really think he is hurting the people who are okay right now.
This will definetly effect my parents because they have health care, but with obama's plan they may not be able to keep what they have and most likely taxes will increase which is never good. I feel that Obama's plan is going well. Basically Obama wants to provide health care for everyone, if you have insurance, or even if you dont. I think that Obama answered every question I had about healthcare in his speech. He really did a good job at explaining what he wanted to do. I think it was immature for one of the senator's to call Obama a liar. I think Obama is trying the best he can because he wants to better things for all of us. This will affect me down the road because when I'm old enough I am going to want to get healthcare and if Obama is making it so that everyone is able to get healthcare no matter what, then ill feel safer knowing that i will be able to have some sort of healthcare plan.
Obama’s plan consists of Preventing insurance companies from dropping coverage when people are sick and need it most, capping out-of-pocket expenses so people don’t go broke when they get sick,
Provides new tax credits to help people buy insurance, and requires large employers to cover their employees and individuals who can afford it to buy insurance so everyone shares in the responsibility of reform. I like his idea, but somebody has to pay for the programs he’s offering, and that burden will end up falling on the shoulders of the up and coming generations. They will be so overtaxed to try and pay for this plan. I just don’t think that his ideas are very realistic. Valid points, he does want everyone to be cared for and create a better healthcare system, but it’s expensive. What will we have to sacrifice in order to support this?
I don’t really understand the whole health care plan, so his speech didn’t really answer any questions for me. His address did inform me about the difficulties of getting healthcare, but also how important it can be. Some members of congress seemed fine with his address, whereas others responded by calling him a liar. This just shows what a controversial topic healthcare is.
This issue affects me because like I stated before, I feel that the tax increases will fall on our shoulders since we are the up and coming generation. I fear that we will have to pay a lot of money for this program to follow through.
The speech on healthcare did not shape any views that I had. Personally, I strongly oppose this plan. Obama proposes that all Americans will have “free” healthcare by providing tax credits to make insurance more affordable and providing public health services to the people that cannot afford healthcare. This plan is unrealistic coming from my perspective.
Congress seemed to react differently to this address. Many were fully behind the president, while other strongly opposes (and didn’t fail to mention it). The Republicans opposing the plan addressed other possible solutions to the healthcare plan.
The reason that I oppose this plan is mostly because I am a middle-class citizen. The money that my parents could be spending on quality healthcare is just going to go into higher taxes to cover Obama’s plan and into rising prescription drug prices that will be an effect of the new healthcare plan. We shouldn’t be working hard to pay while other people can possibly reap the benefits of our taxes. It is not fair that someone who is successful and makes money should have to pay for someone else’s healthcare. And if we are NOT taxed vastly to cover the costs of the plan, where is the money going to come from? I do not trust this plan to work out positively for the United States. I firmly believe in the current system of healthcare that we have in place now, and I see no reason to try and mess it up. Lastly, by law, a hospital cannot turn somebody away if they need assistance. So, anybody can technically get help if it is necessary.
I believe that President Obama's health care plan will be very succesful. He made it clear how difficult it currently is to recieve health care and that many lower class people cannot afford it. The main concept of the idea is to make sure that every resident of the U.S. has some form of health care. He plans to provide the lower class with health care and to stabilize and improve health care for the middle and upper class. This will help our nation in the long run because lower class citizens will no longer have the fear of emptying their bank accounts everytime they are in need of a doctor or surgery. This resolution could prevent the spread of serious illnesses.
I think President Obama’s speech on healthcare was a good start to the plan. More people in the United States will feel more protected for their future, even for the people of the US that cannot afford healthcare. By giving them a good healthcare program and the option of finding affordable healthcare. President Obama’s main focus is to try to get everyone in the US healthcare.
The Members of the Congress reacted very poorly towards Obama. A man called him a liar but didn’t even give him a chance to start what he believes is right for our country. He was very disrespectful.
This issue doesn't really affect me since my family has very good healthcare but it could help other families all around the world that truly need it.

I thought that Obama's speech will present more problems than are implied:
Providing "hardship" credits in order to insure the less fortunate will cost more than we expect--especially if the restrictions on income have been loosened to become more inclusive.
However, I do think that the restrictions on health insurance companies with their pre-existing conditions policies are a fair addition to the plan--I think that these companies hold too much power and do too little to honestly retain this influence. I think that requiring all citizens to be insured is smart in that it saves taxpayers' dollars in emergency care--although this may cost taxpayers' dollars in providing care in the first place. Thus, my stance on this issue is not solid, and will form progressively as I see the plan executed.
This plan would affect me in the involvement of my family's tax dollars, and my own in the future. I do not know that this would directly involve my own healthcare, as I am insured, but I am sure that it will have a profound effect on those who are not.
I see the general reaction as one of extremes, and not of moderate opinions; many show intense distaste for the plan and stand against its policies. Others ardently support it.
Personally, I need to know which would cost more to taxpayers--providing insurance for all, or footing the bill for those who aren't insured--before I form an opinion. I need hard facts to know for sure that this would be best.
I believe that President Obama's healthcare plan is well planned-out and gives everyone in this nation equal opprotunity to afford healthcare. It seems Obama wants people at all levels of society to recieve help with the costs that go with their health. People in the United States are at great need for healthcare, but cannot afford it. President Obama's plan makes sure that everyone gets some kind of benefit towards affording it.
Obama's speech and reading his plan actually did answer the few questions I had about it. I believe his plan is well detailed and will eventually succeed. In fact, his speech just made me support him more than I already did. However, many Republican Congress members strongly oppose his plan. For example, last week a senator loudly declared Obama a "liar". So, it is obvious that there are those people who do not like what President Obama is purposing. But, this issue does not affect me as much my parents or other adults. However, if this plan somehow fails or does not work as well as expected, I could eventually affect me as I progress in my life. That doe not change my opinion and stance on Obama's healthcare plan.
My opinion after watching President Obama's health care address is that universal healthcare could benifit our country greatly for those of the middle and lower class. I believe this because health care is a necessity to almost everyone and it is a subject that can not be ignored. Many with a set health care plan take it for granted and do not think about those less fortunate who are unable to afford such important needs. Not to mention those who struggle paying of health care debts after an unfortunate accident or sickness. We can not let those in need of help suffer because lack of funds. Health care is and should be treated as a necessity not a luxury.
In this country there is no way of pleasing every person possible. Obama has to reach out to those with the most problems and try to help them as much as possible even though others may disagree. I think what Obama is trying to do with the healthcare now is pretty good. People without healthcare will have the option to plan and buy insurance at reasonable rates, and people that already have health insurance will have more benefits. Insurance companies won’t be able to drop coverage when someone is sick and needs it the most.
I feel as though Obama’s new plan will succeed if the people think it will. If the people in the United States are against this then they’re not going to try and make it work and the whole healthcare system will fail. As of now people are against this new plan, even a member of congress said some things that probably should have been kept to himself. But I do feel as though this new healthcare plan could work.

Every american deserves to be safe, and if that means providing everyone with health insurance so they can be safe when they get injured then so be it. I think President Obamas health care plan is a great idea for U.S citizens. He spoke about reforming the health care system we currently have instead of starting a brand new system. The main idea is to reform the current system we have by making it affordable for people, eliminating denial of coverage due to pre-existing illnesses and making sure there is full coverage of insurance. My reason for disagreeing with this plan is that I personally would not like to have to use my money to something that would not run as smoothly as President Obama says it would. It is not another expense that we need to be added to the already steep taxes.

To those who have trouble obtaining insurance, Obama is trying to help them buy insurance at a low cost to prevent financial problems and offer health insurance to all business employees.
Obama pretty much answered all my questions in regards of his new health care reform. I would ask him however where the money he's using to pay for it is coming from. Is it from taxes? Because its certainly not coming out of his back pocket and if it comes from taxes, we are technically paying for our health insurance anyway.
Obama's health care doesn't really change my opinions or views on the matter. I still don't agree with his reforms for a couple of reasons. One its more expensive than he's making it out to be. Medicare isn't doing so well right now and were only giving them more money that could be possibly lost. Lastly, poorer people do have to struggle to get insurance but its not like they aren't treated. It is illegal for a hospital to put them out on the street without giving them necessary care. I think the plan is not such a good idea but I do think there should be reforms, just not government-run health care.
Though i lnow Obama is a great speaker, and i do beleive his heart is in the right place on this matter, i cannot help but disagree with him. The whole concept of his healthcare reform would only add millions of dollars to the national deficit. People who work hard and succeed in life, have the right to choose what type of healthcare they want, whether they beleive they need it or not, while people who struggle in life, for whatever reasons, get to live off of other peoples hard earned money. Maybe some people have it harder in life because theyve gotten the short end of the straw and just couldnt cut it, there are still so many opportunities for success in this country that if you work hard you should be alright, and therefore be able to provide your own healthcare for your family, all this is doing is giving people less of a reason to succeed in life.

The main objectives of Obama’s health care plan are obviously to have those that are not insured to become insured, but also for a new option that can be competitive for small businesses in terms of health care. I think that while his ideal is just, it won’t work for the country without other reforms in the health care industry. In class we were shown the graph for the Medicare and Medicaid, and the prospect of having to give 40-50% of my income over to JUST taxes to take care of these baby boomers is absolutely ridiculous. That’s basically saying professions that make 100k a year now having 50k, even though they have many expenses to pay for from becoming those professions, such as college tuition and insurance, cars, mortgages, etcetera. What is the point in being a harder worker, and getting a rewarding job for all the work you did in college and high school when you’re going to end up making enough to get by and then some, instead of living more comfortably. It’s even worse for those who make less than 50k a year. 25k is supposed to be minimum wage, which is supposedly enough to get by, even though usually when you work for minimum wage, you didn’t go to a higher learning institute and have those extra bills to pay. I think that IF we are to do universal health care, we should revise how prices for drugs and other things are set up, remove any wasteful nature of health industry, and work more on prevention. This all requires the government having extra money to dish out to affect the populace the least, rather than having a gigantic deficit and making it even worse on people.
The main objectives of President Obama’s health care speech are that he wants to makes sure that the current health care that is in place is changed in order to allow American’s to have a more efficient health care system. One of the ways that he is planning on doing this is by providing more security and stability to those that already have health care. This will be done by allowing those who already have health care by putting an end to discrimination against people who have pre-existing conditions, limits discrimination based on age and gender, prevents the insurance companies from dropping you when you become really ill, limits how much expense people will have to pay for by themselves, stops extra charges for preventative care, helps to better protect Medicare and stops loop holes that exclude certain prescription drugs. For people who do not have half care the new reforms allow them to buy insurance at a better price if they can’t currently afford insurance or have a small business, provides new tax credit to help people buy insurance, provides a public health insurance choice for those who currently have none, and immediately offers new affordable insurance for those who currently don’t have any insurance.
While the speech did a good job of giving me a better idea of exactly what the president was offering with the health care it still left a lot of unanswered questions. One of the main issues I have is what affect is this going to have on the taxes that American’s have to pay. I am aware of the fact that it is going to increase them but I am wonder exactly how much this new health care is going to cost. Also if he is increasing the taxes now how much is it going to coast down the road when I am older? Am I going to have to spend a good portion of my income on the coast of health care for others?
This address did not change my views on the matter as much as it did affirm them. I was never really for government health care. While I do feel that it is important to make health care more affordable and do feel that reforms are needed in it I do not think that it should be government run. I feel that everyone should be responsible for their own so that way people who don’t have a job and are content with collecting money from the state don’t reap the benefits of those who work hard for their money. Also this current health care reform idea will increase taxes and I don’t want to end up spending a majority of my income on health care that could be provides by my business.
It seems that most government officials have the same feeling as I do. They feel that health care needs to be made more affordable but it should not be done by having the government raise taxes. By having a government run health care system you are going to dramatically increase the amount of taxes and you will actually end up decreasing the protection that Medicare currently provides.
Obama’s main priority in situating America with sufficient health care would be to provide it to all U.S. citizens. As America fights through the worst recession since the Great Depression the United States is struggling to help Obama keep his health care promises. While our government is trying to pay off our debt from the war on terrorism it becomes more difficult every day to help pay for universal health care. A rising issue in the health department is that all citizens are not treated equally. If you cannot provide sufficient health care, you won’t get the necessary procedure. I agree with Obama’s goal to aid citizens but as of right now it is not economically possible for us to afford that kind of goal.
As an athlete myself, I feel it’s important to provide support for all U.S. citizens because I end up in the emergency room a lot. It’s nearly impossible to pull money out of your pocket and pay for procedures alone. Healthcare would give all citizens the right to attain all medical procedures needed.

President Obama's plan for healthcare helps those in America who do not have the money or access to healthcare and it helps those who currently have healthcare. His plan will not allow companies to drop coverage when people are sick and in need of it most. It also protects senior citizens and doesn't allow for an extra cost in terms of getting flu shots or blood tests. Also, if you currently do not have health care this plan is good because it gives those without insurance a chance to be safe and insured. It also protects those who are constantly sick from being financially ruined.
Other politicians also want health care to be for all people but they feel like it isn't possible to do that the way Obama has it planned. This issue also worries me because I fear that when I get older I may not be able to afford healthcare for myself or my family. I like Obama's plan because it is like a safety net in case your handwork doesn't allow you to get coverage.
According to the Obama administration, the main objectives of the new health care plan include ending discrimination against people with pre-existing conditions, filling gaps in existing health care coverage, ending charges for preventive care, and so on. According to this plan, if you do not have insurance, it will be easier to seek, compare, and buy quality insurance plans. This health care plan also offers a public health insurance option, one of the most controversial aspects of the plan. This plan expects large employers to cover workers or employees who can not cover themselves. This plan may include additional cuts if savings are not taken into account.
Certain members of Congress had reacted childishly when President Obama had brought up the topic pertaining public option. The one thing that I had pondered while reading about the new plan was the cost of it. President Obama had cleared this up during his speech, claiming that the whole process would cost less than the Afghanistan war and the Iraq war. Although I may have been skeptical of the health care plan originally, I know look at it from a more optimistic perspective. I believe that the proposed health care plan has the potential of creating many positive outcomes.
I support Obama's health care plan. I believe that every citizen deserves a chance for health care. Some people really need it and its not fair for them not to get it. President Obama supports the ideology of universal health care to all residents. He wants to be able to give health care to those who need it and secure health care for those who already have it. For all Americans, Obama says the plan would end discrimination against people with pre-existing conditions, ensure that insurance companies would not take coverage from people who are sick, prevent anyone from going into debt due to hospital costs, have the medicare of senior citizens secured, and mandate that children would all receive health care. The members of Congress, especially the Republicans, seem to agree with President Obama, that everyone deserves to receive equal health care treatment through the "Common Sense" reform as they put it. However, they were disappointed that Obama did not discuss the unnecessity of the idea of government run health care. They believe that health care overhaul would only waste money. Also, they didn't like the fact that the President did not work to establish and pitch liability reform standards. They wanted businesses to be able to buy insurance across state lines.
This address had made me support the healthcare reform a bit more. I want my future to be safe and allowing a secure health care system to protect my financial situations as well as my health is a great idea. Also, Obama had addressed many of my fears and calmed them too.
The reform that Obama is pushing is not just an effort to change today's system but also the future. We can't be sure of what happens a few years from now, so change our path in healthcare is a good idea.

Another objective to the health care bill is to make sheer that your health insurance can’t drop you when you get sick with something they didn’t know about. The final objective is to clear up any confusion about the bill.
The President did answer some the questions that I had about the health care bill. You do not have to change your health insurance to the governments if you already have health insurance. The bill will make so that your health care companies can’t drop you when you are sick with a precondition. I don’t have any issues with this health care bill so I my mind can’t be changed. Congress liked the Presidents health care bill idea. This issue doesn’t affect me at the moment.

The only question I would ask is why the U.S. citizens don’t receive free health care since many other countries provide their citizens with free health care? I believe health care should be free because it is up to your country to help you when you need help and no one should be limited to the amount of care they get because of their income. The congress didn’t agree with Obama’s views on government run health care. They believe insurance should be individual to every person. The democrats a are teaming up for reform but some republicans aren’t reacting well to it.
This will affect me because after college I will be forced to get some sort of insurance to pay for my health care when I need it. Honestly, I don’t want someone else to take my money to pay for his or her doctor visit. People who do not have insurance need to stop being ignorant, starting studying, get a job, and pay for their insurance. I have my own things and issues to worry about; I do not want to have to pay for other’s insurance.
What Obama is doing has good intentions, but I'm not sure its the best for our nation at this present time. Of course, there are millions of people without healthcare benfits, and thats very unfortunate. But his health care reform would plunge our country into way more debt than we are already in. Our national debt is in the trillions, and we cannot force ourselves to sink any lower. I know this is being spoken from the perspective of someone who doesnt have to deal with the problem of no medicare, but it is not feasible for our country at this present time. We have to wait for the economy to stabalize before we take such a dramtic step.
Obama's plan is based on the false assumption that healthcare is a natural right. From this false assumption, Obama has concluded that it is the federal government's responsibility to make sure all citizens have health insurance. Unfortunately, Obama does not realize that in every case of government intrusion into the free market, the result has left our country worse off than before. From what I understand about health care (which is admittedly not too much), the percentage of Americans with healthcare had been steady increasing in America until the 1970s, when politicians decided to get involved. At that point, the percentage of Americans with healthcare began to drop. Without doing some research, I could not propose a solution to any healthcare problems, but I am sure that whatever problems exist can be fixed without Washington's help.
According to Obama’s plan, he is allowing people of the United States with citizenship have some sort of healthcare. Obama understands the tough time that all Americans are facing and he wants to make it easier for his country. This may not be the best idea because it might put insurance companies out of business because some people cannot afford it.
This issue that’s occurring in the United States doesn’t really involve me and much as it does other people. I have parents that can pay for my healthcare, but don’t have that. Healthcare will be involved with my life as I grow up, but I should start worrying about it now.

I believe that Obama’s health care plan will be very successful. The thought put into this plan seems to be very thorough, and security seems to be a main issue also. Healthcare to me is a much larger problem then what I had expected, mainly because I have not read up on it recently. The demand for it though is extremely high, putting even more pressure on Obama and his party. The main objective of his idea is to make it fair and relatively easy for people to receive health care, while eliminating the overwhelming costs it would have on our country. Overall, Obamas plan seems to lead in the right path, and should prove successful in the near future.
I believe that Obama’s health care plan will be very successful. The thought put into this plan seems to be very thorough, and security seems to be a main issue also. I believe that Obama’s healthcare plan is going to be a success. This plan will help out many people who do not currently have health insurance. He wants every American that does not have health insurance to be able to have it. His speech shows how he knows how the Americans feel. I completely support his healthcare plan; the senator that called Obama a liar is wrong, Obama is just trying to better our country.
The basic plan of universal health care is to make it available to everyone, including those with pre-existing conditions who have a hard time getting a good deal for insurance. He also wants the option to be available to those who are already satisfied with their current insurance plan.
The 40 odd minute speech did answer many of the questions I had regarding the issue, because I hadn't been too involved in reading upon the updates of it.
Although this may have been answered, since I did not watch the speech in its entirety, I wanted to know how our current insurance companies would be affected by the release of the universal health care.
I've generally supported this plan from the beginning, and the parts of the speech I watched have only strengthened my support for it.
Most members of Congress agreed that something had to be done about the rising cost of health care plans. However some members disagreed that a government-run health care system was necessary. Some even believed that it would waste more money than it would save.
This issue barely affects me, because health care is not a financial issue with our family. However, as with most big reforms such as this, it will probably have indirect effects with our family; for example it may affect the economy drastically, which will affect every resident of the United States.
Obama is doing the right thing in his proposal in making it possible for more americans to obtain healthcare, which i believe something every american deserves. Denying a person there right to health care would be like denying that person there right to live. Obama is doing the right thing in trying to make sure every american is properly taken care of in there time of need, one of the most important parts of being the president
I believe that Obama’s health care plan is a good thing for many Americans. I believe that everyone should have the right to a health care plan even if they can’t afford it. The objective of this plan is to get every citizen the health care they deserve. His speech did clear up some things I wasn’t positive about the plan for health care. One of the senators went as far as to call president Obama a liar. I believe that was over the line and uncalled for. Everyone should have the right to health care and Obama is trying to make that a reality for everyone.
Presidnet Obama made a strong effort to push a new healthcare system through Congress with his speech last week. Obama believes that the current healthcare system is not as effective as it could be, and that some American citizens are suffering as a result of this system. For example, one American citizen lost their healthcare policy because they had gall stones that they were unaware of. Situations like these are what Obama wants to do away with, and his proposal for a universal healthcare system with a public option would accomplish just that. He wants Congress to approve a healthcare plan that will provide all American citizens with health insurance. He is a firm believer that any citizen of these United States has a right to healthcare companies, and that is not negotiable by the insurance companies.
As a Canadian citizen, I have been familiar with a healthcare system that is similar to the system that Obama is proposing. I was questioning to what extent his universal healthcare system would go to, and I believe that he answered that question. Though he makes this system sound like the perfect solution, I am aware that this is not true. There will always be flaws with a system. I personally still wonder what regulations on health insurance companies will be put into place if a new system was created. I also want to know how it will affect me personally, if I will be able to maintain the same quality of life. If I'm sick, I can get into a doctor's office that day. Would this new healthcare system give preference to citizens that have a higher status, or if the idea of it being universal gives everyone a truly equal right to healthcare. I also want to know how Obama intends to limit the amount of illegal immigrants and homeless people that use hospitals at the expense of the American taxpayers.
As I look at this idea of universal healthcare, I still don't know how to feel about the situation. On one hand, a universal healthcare system would eliminate such situations like the one stated earlier, where citizens lose their health insurance due to no fault of their own. I feel pity for these people, and believe that they deserve that equal right to health insurance. On the other hand, I am happy with my position in healthcare right now. My family and I have great access to medical care, and we are very comfortable with what we have. This speech sadly did not change my view on the situation, and that is no fault of President Obama in my opinion. This is a major issue, and it is increasingly difficult to change someone's view on the subject as time goes by. The members of Congress have mixed feelings about the address, especially when one is willing to speak out against the President during his speech. There are many liberals who support the healthcare system that Obama is proposing, even though their is some opposition from within the democrats. It will be interesting to see where the issue ends up in the coming weeks, and how the opinions of the American people will change as well.
This issue affects me based on what this system will do to my healthcare. If a universal healthcare system is established, then my quality of health may suffer. I am lucky to have the health insurance that I have, and to feel comfortable that if I get sick, I can see a doctor on the same day. If this were to change, I do not know how I would react, because I cannot predict the events that would occur should such a healthcare reform pass through Congress.
Despite such "wonderful" ideas that the administration has presented....its time to come back to the real world. Insuring "all Americans" truly seems impossible. Its unfortunate that some are not able to pay for their medical costs, but this is a capitalist society. Some are rich, and others are poor. That's just how it works. I personally believe that SOMETHING has to be done. Absolutely. But to revolutionize the entire system is completely unnecessary. NOWHERE in the bill does it guarantee illegals wont get coverage. So i don't understand why some people say otherwise. I feel that having a BIPARTISAN solution will definitely help form a more well rounded, and less radical bill. A "watered down" health plan seems more reasonable. Again I personally hope that we as a nation can establish a healthcare system where those who need coverage and cant afford it can receive such aid, but I personally don't think a complete overhaul is necessary. If the house needs some paint and carpet, put in paint and carpet. Don't do an entire renovation.
President Obama's speech to congress presented the ideas of universal health care readily avaiable for all class citizens. While I myself do not have to deal with the crisis of bill payment due to medical reasons, millions of United States citizens can simply not afford to pay the price. While the system would cost tax payers more money, and many argue against that, it is seen that the tax payers have already begun to pay for universal healthcare because treatment for the uninsured isn't free. Nationwide health care that covered all forms of citizens would be most beneficial, in allowing the great number of uninsured citizens to no longer worry about ridiculously high medical bills. I can't imagine a scenario where someone hurts themself doing some simple everyday task and then goes into a state of paranoia worrying how they will afford treatment because they are uninsured. No citizen should have to go day to day while constantly worrying just in case they need a couple of stitches or any other medical issue. While the healthcare is still in very early stages of development, allowing for all those who oppose to bring up its unrevised flaws, it has great potential. A universal health care system would be extremely beneficial, who knows, maybe some day I'll be uninsured and need it.
I support Obama's plan because he realizes how many people will die without getting this healthcare. Some people just get into a big accident on the street and dont have enough money to pay for it. I think that Obama's main objective is to ensure the public that they will never have to worry about getting healthcare. There is no reason for people to call Obama a liar because he is always thinking of the people and how he can help them. He just wants to provide everybody will fair and easily accessible healthcare.
First of all, where does it say in the constitution that the government has to take over the health care system? Although President Obama’s idea to reform health care may seem good on paper, I don’t think it will be able to work. Its just something too large to completely redo at one time. President Obama needs to slow down and take things on one by one. There are going to definitely be problems with this reform if he does this all at once..like the president said “its 1/6th of the economy.” This is a lot to change at one time. This has got to cost a lot of money to insure everyone in the United States, and I have no idea where Obama is going to get the money to fund this if he is saying the deficit will not grow. He’s saying that he’s going give tax credits..but the taxes are just going to go up. This simply just doesn’t make sense economically. Secondly, I understand that people need healthcare, but to insure everyone simply just won’t work. It does not say anywhere in the bill that it will guarantee illegal immigrants won’t get coverage. Why when they don’t pay taxes, do we allow them the benefits that tax payers support? This is something the government is not going to be able to control. These people still won’t be insured, but they will have to be treated. How are we going to deal with this? Lastly, I believe something needs to be done about the health care, but does the country need a radical change and a complete renovation to the health care system? I believe not. We need to sit down as two parties, and figure out a plan that works for everyone. I think that something has to be done, but we need to take this slowly and not try to change this all at once.

The questions I would have for President Obama is if they can refuse treatment to anyone that ill and the person is an illegal immigrant who is not paying taxes how do we get that money back? Hard working people are pouring their hard earned money into taxes and people who either shouldn’t get it in the first place or people who are not putting near as much money as you are into it are getting the exact same benefits as the person who is putting much more money into the program.
Other parties would like to see a bipartisan reform come to the floor but instead the President wants to completely change the way health care is done. They want to keep the cost of health care down while the proposed plan by the president would increase taxes and add hundreds of billions of dollars to our national debt. They agree something needs to be done with health care but they don’t want to completely redesign the system.
I definitely support Obamas plan for healthcare. No one should be rejected for help when they are in need of healthcare. its their life at risk, all people should be able to get healthcare. At the current time, its extremely hard to get healthcare as an american but obamas plan will help americans get the healthcare that they should. Lower class citizens cant afford healthcare so when they need to be helped, it takes a chunk out of their wallet. that shouldnt be the case, everyone deserves the right to live so affordable healthcare should be a must. even though some politicians dont agree with obamas point of view i feel that in the long run it will better majority of american lives. Obama cares for this country and he'll do all he can to help it and i'm a firm believer in his ideas.

Also if you don’t already have health insurance the new plan creates a health care market which in turn will create lower prices because of competing companies over the consumer. Finally the presented plan will put an end to the projected growth rate of the cost of Medicare and Medicaid for all Americans. His speech did answer question I wasn’t aware were even problems. He stated that health care will not be provided to any illegal immigrant, no federal money will be used towards abortions, and also the insane notion that some people believe that there will be people appointed to kill off senior citizens, which he emphatically stated was false. Hearing this speech made me feel more at ease about the health care reforms because I felt all of what he said would be an improvement. The congress was pleased by the address, but I felt they were obnoxious about it by never letting him finish speaking before they began applauding. This won’t affect me much at the moment because I am on government provided health care because my dad works for the state, but in the future it provides more options for me to choose from.
Obama's plan for health care is a great idea. There are many Americans who are unable to afford health care due to its high costs. Our health is one of the most important and valueble things a person can have. If this plan is implemented all Americans will have rights to health care which is something that everyone deserves.
The president has a clear plan which has not been seen for a while now. If he succeeds many people in the future will be strongly benefited. Many people should not doubt any actions until many years from now because it will not happen overnight. My opinion is strong when it comes to how much time it will take. People say he isnt do anything are not thinking about how hard it is to accomplish this. Each day that goes by, I believe he is getting closer to fulfilling his healthcare goals.

I think Obama's Health care plan is one of the worst ideas conceived about healthcare. "Let's go backwards and socialize healthcare." I have met people that lived in countries with socialized healthcare. Every single one of them said that it was ten times worse than it is over here. Canada is acctually attempting to switch to our current type of healthcare. I do believe refrom needs to be made, but a socialization of healthcare is going way too far. We could possibly have a healthcare system that is priamrily private, but is more affordable. If people make healthcare more affordable, then more people will buy it, thus increasing revenue. Also if it was more affordable, the middle class Americans wouldn't be paying for the lower class's helthcare anymore because it would be affordable to the lower class. I think Obama's health care plan is an awful idea.
I think that Obama’s ideas on healthcare are sufficient for the people of the United States. His goal is to give healthcare to all US citizens. He will also offer a public option for people who cannot find cheap coverage. Through his speech I have found many satisfying thoughts on how he plans to give health insurance to citizens that cannot afford it. I am very pleased with his plan. Obama’s views for the status facing us in today's society are positive and I think they could really prove to be worthy in the long run. Providing everyone with healthcare would really show how much he cares and how he plans to succeed as our president.
