i belive the most important issue facing Americans today is the lack of jobs.
Alot of jobs out there, originaly done by man, have been replaced and are now done by machines. thus taking the jobs for people that need them the most. and in todays world where gas, food, heat ...etc...etc are a major part of there lives and all of this stuff have become pricey, and since the machines are doing the work its taking a lot of jobs away from people who need the money.
soon who knows they may have machines that build other machines
they could take over every job possible

I believe that the most important issue facing the government today is the impending danger to our environment and its resources. People are not putting enough emphasis on the danger we have put our environment in and the changes that we must make to fix our mistakes.
There is no denying the fact that our environment has changed over the past decade and will continue to do so. Even if you are not convinced that global warming exists, it can not be denied that our country and the world as a whole have become huge polluters, especially when it comes to the matter of transportation. Not only do cars produce exhaust and pollution, but they are also eating the world's resources. Oil has become more and more scarce as Americans continue to guzzle it down.
Therefore, for reasons pertaining to both the environment and our quality of lifestyle, it is important to either change our lifestyle or find a solution to this growing problem.

I believe the most important issue facing Americans today is the suffering economy. The decline of the economy has caused many Americans to lose their jobs and has forced many small businesses to shut down. The economy has had a domino like effect on many American families. If the family was relying on one salary, the loss of that job could cause the family to suffer financially. This would further decrease the amount of products being bought due to people not being able to afford them. If products aren't being bought, then stores will also suffer. The suffering economy has an affect on every one in the country, and is becoming a bigger issue in American's lives day by day.

The most important issue that Americans face today goes beyond petty political and social quarrels. This issue is the environment; the fact that if we do not take extreme measures to alleviate the already increasing damages to our planet, future generations will be less concerned with nuclear weapons and abortion laws and more concerned with their very existence.
The recent oil spill in the gulf of Mexico should have been a wakeup call, but it wasn’t. Reporters on the liberal news network CNN remarked at how wonderful it was that the oil appeared, from aerial views of the region, to almost disappear. Obviously it didn’t just disappear, and out of sight out of mind is not an acceptable response for community and national leaders to take. It may be a year from now or maybe ten, fifty, a hundred, but the fact that millions of barrels of crude oil are dispersed through the ocean and ruining natural habitats, killing fish, and preventing natural photosynthesis. And anyone who has studied biology knows that there is a food chain; and if one part, the ocean, is depleted, the rest of the world will be subsequently impacted.
We need to stop focusing on our petty wars, appeasement policies, useless laws and constitutional amendments. The real crisis is that we might not even be around in a number of years to agonize over these minute, inconsequential concerns.

I think that most important issues that is facing Americans today is lack of work and healh care.
Due to the economy, people in America are not able to find jobs that they can find for while. Also Americans that already have jobs, ether get laid off or fired due to no work for them.
Health care has a big part in that too. Jobs provide health care and with no work there is no health care to go around. I think that there should be free health care to Americans that have no jobs.

The most important issue facing the American people today and what is on their minds are two things; the economy (jobs) and troops overseas. We need to get back on track with things and people are getting laid off left and right, but if we the people don't spend money, how else are we going to get back on track? Companies, especially small companies are becoming bankrupted because people around them won’t spend the money to eat out or buy anything because those people are laid off or are tying to save their money. It's just one big circle that we need to somehow straighten up. However how are supposed to get back on track when the government is going to raise taxes with everyone getting health insurance? That’s just another problem to add on with everything else, everything else being how troops are are in Iraq, or wait, there not in Iraq anymore there getting shipped to Afghanistan I believe now. I personally don't believe that Iraq is ready for our troops to be complete out, but I don't have a say in what Obama does. Overall, our economy and wall street still isn’t doing all that well and America needs to keep picking itself back up.

I believe that the most important issue facing Americans today is the shortage in jobs.
The United States Economy has plummeted over the past couple years and many people are quick to put the blame on the stock market or housing crisis. Foreclosures are rapidly increasing all over the country, however what it comes down to is creating jobs so that family's can pay their bills and keep their houses.
The economy is never going to recover until the Obama administration finds some way to create more jobs. With more jobs, families have more money to spend and as a result businesses will do better.
Creating jobs isn't as easy as it seems, and President Obama has already began the process by boosting civil works and infrastructure projects. Although Cheshire hasn't necessarily been hit the hardest, signs are pointing in the right direction. Construction has been going on for several weeks on many of Cheshire's main roads, which is creating numerous jobs.
The more we decrease unemployment, the faster we will recover from this long recession.

I think the biggest problem facing Americans today is the lack of communication between the central government and everyday people.
It isn't often that Americans, a people who live in a country that is supposedly "for the people", actually get a direct say in what is going on in Washington DC. One of the biggest problems constantly expressed by Americans is the troops continuing to be stationed in Iraq. It is a common belief that these troops don’t belong there anymore now than they did several years ago when the first troops entered. Yet, they are still away from their families, fighting a never-ending war that is not supported by Americans at home. This shows a major miscommunication between the government and the people. It is understandable that the task is a difficult one and that all the troops can't all just leave at once but I feel like the people should be given honest updates instead of empty promises. This way they feel involved in the decisions made in their country that they support with taxes and patriotism.
Although the problem seems simple enough, it is very difficult to manage a successful communication system through all the people in America but a stronger effort should definitely be made.

I feel that the most important issue facing Americans today is the large increase in unemployment due to the recent recession and overall general problems with the economy. Because of the many job losses, many Americans are having a very hard time making money to support their families, pay off bills, and living paycheck to paycheck is putting unfamiliar stress on many American families. Although the country is doing all it can to try to get these people their back on their feet, there just are, unfortunately, not enough jobs to go around for all. Hopefully, within the next year or so, the country will be able to pick themselves back up out of this recession to create more jobs and make the unemployment level go down.

I think that the most harmful issue America has had to deal with in recent years is most likely the economic decay and job loss. It matters most to me because that is the issue that's weighing down, not only on myself, but on others I and my family know. Everyday my dad comes home from Pratt and Whitney stressed about how layoffs are a growing concern, he is forced to take furlough days, and about the closing of the Cheshire plant where thousands of people lost their jobs.
I agree with Liz, where she compares the economy to the domino effect, and its true because I've noticed that Americans have cut back on luxury, like going out to a restaurant or buying a used car, as examples. This noticeably lowers the market demand while manufacturers struggle to sell their goods and continue to outsource jobs to countries where people will work for less. With this lay off, the income of families across America drops and becomes a growing concern and daily stress for the one or two people supporting their families.

The most important issue Americans are facing today is the economy. The world is falling into a recession and we are facing hard times. Prices are high and still raising, thousands of people are jobless and poor, people are losing health insurance and everyone is fighting the budget cuts. I believe that the government needs to help us out more. We need more jobs to do and improve the living conditions of Americans.

As people are losing their jobs, it's becoming difficult to pay their morgage so they are losing their homes and the value of homes is falling. People are also getting into deeper debts that they cannot afford to do.

The state of California is asking the governtment for additional federal funds that will help pay off deep debts. With that, the state can save $8 billion in the 18 months coming officials have said.

Some people have been out of jobs for so long that they have run out of life savings and now face difficult choices such as the problem of choosing between food and medicine that the really need.

example:What are the people going to do when the Pratt and Whitney closes?

Because of the economic issue we're facing, the companies that make things and provide services aren't getting as many customers and orders for goods or services, but they sill have expenses like salaries. So they must lay people off in order to save money.

With things like this happening, we need to find a way to solve this before something worse comes along. These are only some of the many things that are happening today that is affecting everyone.

The threat that is the most monumental is also the hardest to fix. Jobs are lost and as they are people stop spending their money. The vicious cycle of job loss and less consumer spending = bad economy. More and more layoffs in areas such as teaching are a problem for Americas future well continual budget cuts take away from education, repair, and scientific advancement. All these layoffs also lead to less money in the hands of the consumers. Even those who are still working are afraid of getting laid off and do not spend their money. When consumers stop spending money companies start losing money and layoff more people. However companies are now in their lean period. This means they have a very small staff doing all the work their previous staff did and for the same salary per person. If Americans started spending more money that they could help the economy recover. As it is now, job loss and the economies downward spiral are the main threat to Americans second only to turtles.

I believe the most important issue facing our country today is the issue with jobs. Now a days technology was grown to what wouldve been never imagenable a few years ago. Including the way that things are processed and made. There are very few of the same jobs that where considered necassary jobs many years ago. Technology has taken over the place of many people in factories. Because of the lack of jobs many small business where created over the years. Most people make their living from there small business's. Unfortunetly due to the poor economy most support is going to larger business's. So now the many people who where living off small business's arnt making any money. The lack of jobs then leads to many strugling families trying to get by. Its hard to support their family along with paying bills. If the jobs where created and the employment rate went up it would take away alot of the struggles most americans are facing today

I believe the most important issue facing Americas today is the economy. With the current economic problems many people have lost their jobs. With the job losses some family's have had to make substantial changes to their daily living whether it be being on a tighter budget for money or even having to sell their houses because they couldn't make ends meet. Not only have the people been affected by the economy problems but small businesses also have been. With less money to be spend the smaller businesses have had to close down their stores because not as many people can afford to shop their. Therefore with the economy suffering so greatly it is affecting the entire county and becoming a very important issue.

I believe that the most important issue the American people face today, is the lack of natural resources we have left / will in the near future. The amount of paper people are using daily, not to mention wasting water and the amount of gas that's used is astronomical. If the population keeps growing as it is in Nevada, in 60 years time all the drinking reservoirs will dry up. In the rain forests, we're loosing 60000 square miles a year. People need to learn to be more green, and it needs to happen fast before more permanent damage is done.

I believe that most important issue facing American at this time is the economy. Over the past couple years the economy has been failing dramatically. This drop has led to many negative effects which only hurt the economy more. Many workers have lost their jobs so that companies can save money but these widespread lay-offs only keep people from finding another job. This could cut family incomes in half or cut them off completely. With less income people are forced to spend less which means less consumption. Since people are not buying products the companies are making less and less money. This loss of money in turn forces businesses to lay off more people so the cycle only continues.
With such a hurt economy our government can not work on other issues we have such as the environment and the military. People are pushing for new green energy but we can not afford to work on that until we fix the economy. Also our defenses are only draining more money which could be helping internal issues. Our country faces a lot of issues right now but we can not fix those until we help our economy. With a stronger economy we can get our people back to work which will create more consumption and then help businesses and create jobs. We must break the terrible cycle of the economy or we will never be able to face our other issues.

I believe that the most important issue that has a lingering affect in people's minds is the job shortage. This job shortage left many people with little to no money and almost no place to find work. For example the nursing profession used to be one where there was always jobs and until now there has been. Since many nursing jobs are filled there is a domino effect going on with the rest of the young college kids who want to become nurses because they will probably decide against becoming a nurse if they know that there won't be a lot of jobs to find. On another note new teachers that are coming out of college will also have a hard time finding work due to the budget cuts that many towns face. As well as the two jobs mentioned many more have been affected which leads to my point that the job shortage is the most important issue.

I believe the most important issue facing Americans today is the economy, mainly the lack of jobs. Almost everything is produced overseas, moving lots of jobs out of the country. The unemployment rate is now about 10%. The economy is clearly in bad shape, and it will not improve anytime soon unless there are more jobs available to Americans. Americans also need to do their part, though, and be willing to work at jobs that may not be their first choice, or what they think is equivalent to their skill level. There are many other pressing issues facing the world today, such as the environment, but those issues cannot be solved by Americans until the economic problem is solved, and that will not happen until there are more jobs available.

I strongly believe that the most important issue Americans have is supporting themselves and their family. Many people have and still are losing their jobs every day. The unemployment has gone up so much, thousands of people have lost their homes and lifestyle. This ecomony has gotten so bad and no one can afford anything. Machines have taken over society and there is no need for people to work anymore.
When people lose their jobs then they have no money to get food, pay for bills and support themselves and their family. Losing jobs can lead to depression and not be social anymore. They would eventually lose their house and them and their family has to find another place to live. This would lead to conflicts and the government is doing their best to prevent this from happening. These machines have taken over America.
Also due to the poor economy, companies have ran out of business. One business can affect another business and so on.
Job lose is the most important issue Americans have .

I firmly believe that the most pressing issue facing America today is the crumbling economy. In recent years, the economic state of our country has been rapidly worsening with little to no hope of recovery in the near future. With current unemployment rates reaching nearly ten percent, many families are left without significant financial support and a general feeling of total hopelessness. Homes are being foreclosed and Americans who have lost their jobs due to a failing economic infrastructure are unable to reinvest their money in American products and jump-start the economy. The public is constantly being bombarded with stories of businesses going bankrupt and the national deficit continuously increasing.
President Obama and some more localized governments are trying to create more job opportunities via construction and manual labor projects to better the community, but these actions still have yet to provide a remotely effective jolt to the American economy. We cannot focus all of our energy on the numerous other problems our country is also experiencing until we discover more ways to better the economic situation that has caused so many innocent citizens to lose their jobs, their homes, and their faith in this once great country.

I definitely think the national debt is the most important issue facing Americans today. It by far has the most impact on everything. It is a large umbrella that covers most issues in America. In every poll the majority of people think that the economy is the biggest problem.
The national debt is leading to job loss, foreclosure, and many other things. It is also creating problems in Washington as they debate how much money goes here and how much money goes there.
Personally, I think the national debt is taking the largest toll on American education. The national debt is leading to budget cuts across the country, which leads to the loss of teachers and important programs at school. Today’s students are, therefore missing out on import an important part of their education. The national debt is affecting students, and they are the future of America.

Illegal immigration is an issue that needs to be resolved in the near future. It seems inevitable that illegal immigration is never going to stop and that our government is going to face a constant struggle on protecting our borders. To some, illegal immigration leaves a bitter taste in one's mouth. However one cannot deny that billions of dollars are pumped into the American economy via undocumented immigrants or illegal aliens. Commonly, Illegal migrants are the people who take on labor intensive jobs that are viewed by society as less than desirable. If it were not for illegal immigrants working hard to make a living, our economy would not be where it is today. America should continue to enforce immigration laws to an extent (to avoid over population), however I believe it is in our nation's best interest if we focus our efforts towards using illegal immigration to our advantage.

I think the most impostant issue facing Americans today is if he should have troops in Iraq. There is a big argument why should they be there and when are they coming out. Many people think that we should leave Iraq and let them figure it out hemselfs. But others are apposed. Even though 100,000 troops went home there are still 50,000 soliders still there. Are government needs to figure out what is best for the country.

America is currently in the midst of an overwhelming recession and frightening levels of unemployment. Worse still, the government has been running deeper into debt for years and continues deficit spending and international borrowing which exacerbates and ultimately prolongs the economic crises. However, while the nation’s financial strife is certainly worrying and important, it is a problem that may be overcome in the foreseeable future with dedication and proper planning. The most important issue facing America right now is one that must be dealt with while the opportunity exists; the possibility of creating and maintaining a peaceful, stable relationship between Israel and Palestine. Currently, the United States has momentum in the movement for peace in the Middle East with the end of Operation Iraqi Freedom and proponents of peace have been given a rare opportunity since Israeli and Palestinian leaders have agreed to resume peace talks. Considering how volatile the Middle East has been and still is, United States activists and politicians must pursue the current chance to establish tranquility in Israeli affairs (which also includes dealing with Iran, but that’s a different story) and the time to act is now. Besides plane tickets and minor expenses, such a course of action does not have to increase the government’s budget so other pressing issues may be addressed while the United States instigates diplomacy. Settling the disputes between Israel and Palestine would start the process of stabilizing the entire Middle East and in turn establishing pleasant relations for the United States and the international community, setting a precedent for American foreign policy, encouraging a greater understanding between non-Muslim Westerners and Muslims, and lessening the chances of terrorist attacks both abroad and in America.
Also, the United States needs to get off of its broke ass and stop being so broke so aid can be given to Pakistan; the recent floods of which are by far the most important crisis on the planet, but not directly the most important issue facing Americans.

I feel the most important issue facing Americans today is one many overlook, the environment. People may hear about things going on like global warming or the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico but few people do anything to even try to help.
It's understandable that you can't just volunteer to stop global warming and hope to make a difference. However, one of the presumed causes of it is pollution that's harmed the ozone layer. Americans can help lessen the amount of pollution into the air by doing things as simple as reusing or recycling.
Below the ozone layer we have the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico thats affecting the oceans round us. People figure it'll go away but chances are it won't anytime soon. Not only is it bad for the environment but we've lost a ton of oil this way. According to NCPA.org we have until 2056 before our oil supply will be depleted considering it stays at its current rate and no other resources are discovered.
Hopefully in the near future Americans begin to really see how dangerous this could become in the next century and start finding ways to stop it now.

I believe the most important issue facing America today is the bad economy. The economy has done a lot of damage to American lives, the economy has lost people their jobs that helps support their family and if they have no jobs they can’t buy essential supplies that their family needs. The economy has put job lost at a number one high and it keeps getting worst.
Also the bad economy has made it hard for family-owned small businesses to not go bankrupted. This means that since people are losing their jobs they can’t buy many things from stores and have to go to superstores, which has lower prices than small businesses and causes the store to shut down. The economy has made an affect that keeps going on and on until someone tries to fix it.

I think the most important issue facing Americans today is how hard it is to find jobs. In this economy many people are losing their jobs and not being able to get new ones. Many people are relying on unemployment, losing their homes, and aren't able to make a living. Students coming from college aren't finding jobs as easily as before, and are falling into debt that they can't get out of. I think the government should try to create more jobs instead of extending unemployment all the time.

Sam Whelan said...

I believe the most important issue in America is the lack of jobs. The lack of jobs leads to other problems besides just the lack of jobs. If people don't have jobs then they don't have income and therefore can't afford to buy products. In the large numbers of people that don't have jobs it makes a serious impact on businesses, causing quite a few to go out of business. Another problem stemming from people without jobs is welfare. The people who do have jobs have to pay for welfare, putting them into a more difficult situation. And with all the welfare today many people don't even bother looking for jobs, they just live off welfare (I'm not saying everyone does, but many do).
The government has tried to fix the lack of jobs. One way was with the census. There was a problem with that though. It did create many jobs, but after the census was over most the workers went right back into unemployment.

The most important issue that faces Americans today, among the plethora of pressing issues is the deficit that America has incurred. This deficit will be the end of the American economy as we know it today, and thus the end of American dominance in World affairs. The enormous sum of the deficit which is over 13 trillion dollars has bankrupted our country, and now we are living and spending on borrowed time until other countries call in their loans and our economy collapses. Congress has been keen to spend billions and trillions of dollars that we do not have on frivelous pet projects and studies that become outdated as soon as they are finished. Due to excessive government waste Congress cannot pass a balanced budget and thus we cannot reduce our deficit. The deficit has become so outrageous that it increases about 1 million dollars every 15 seconds. The rate at which the debt keeps growing is unsustainable and if the other countries call in their loans and we don't or can't pay the US and thus world economy will crash sending us into the deepest depression in history.

Although the environment may not be the issue which directly impacts Americans the most now, it is the issue which will define American policy in the years to come. Our continuing apathy towards this topic has allowed it to blossom into a crisis of epic proportions. No longer is it just a threat to the physical environment in which we live, it has become a threat to our social well-being, our physical well-being, and our safety.
Operation Free is an advocacy group based in Washington D.C. composed of ex-military officials who are concerned about the implications of climate change on our global security. Obvious signs of this threat are the convoys in Iraq and Afghanistan that must wait for hours in vulnerable locations in order to receive oil. But the long term implications of climate change pose the real military threat. Close to 50% of the world’s population lives within 50 miles of the coast. If sea levels were to rise, then those people would be displaced. Needing food, shelter, and a new way of life they would be forced to migrate inland creating conflict with the individuals who live far from the coast. Although this effect would occur worldwide, military officials are especially worried about the Middle East because if the Ganges River were to dry up, the region would be practically starved of all water supplies. This lack of the basic necessities would throw their society into chaos in a region where instability is already the norm. Death would be an optimistic outlook for many, war would become unavoidable, and NONE of this damage could be reversed.
This scenario may seem like a doomsday prediction, but it is a real threat that has been recognized by many organizations including the CIA. While professors and politicians may hypothesize about the damage that could be done by climate change, the changes that will actually occur will be beyond our ability to solve or even predict.

I strongly believe that the most important issue facing Americans today is the suffering economy which has led to a decrease in jobs. The economy has an affect on all Americans.Due to the bad economy, many people have lost their jobs and this makes it difficult for families to support themselves. The only way that the issue with our economy can be fixed is by finding a way to create more jobs throughout the country. The lack in jobs right now is stressful for many people. It is difficult for families to pay bills and foreclosure rates are high. More jobs need to be created in order to get the economy back on the right track again. Keeping Americans employed will allow them to be able to support themselves, and will eventually lead to an improving economy.

I believe that the most important issue facing Americans is our declining middleclass and the increasing shortage of jobs thanks to deregulation and our ever-increasing debt. Even though George W. Bush caused the nation’s debt to skyrocket by $4.9 trillion to $10.9 trillion, Obama has already raised our debt even further by $2 trillion over the course of a year and a half without any improvement to our nation’s plummeting situation. Instead, Obama is no different from Bush when it comes to favoring large corporations and bankers over the hard working middleclass Americans who make up the majority of America’s population. I don’t believe a democracy should be favoring the rich and influential minority over the majority. It is primarily because of the government’s deregulation of large corporations that they are allowed to move their companies overseas to places such as India and Pakistan as the average Indian and Pakistani will voluntarily work for much longer periods of time than the average American for far lower wages. With our jobs being outsourced to foreign countries and people, the average America will be hard-pressed to find a decent paying job.

The economy is secured under a critical balance of the inflow and outflow of money. If this balance is altered or damaged, then the state of the country is in serious trouble. With thousands of jobs being lost each day, we get closer to the edge. So, jobs should be most significant issue that Americans are facing today. Action should be made so that we don’t all suffer with the recession of the economy.
With the loss of jobs, people are now struggling to meet ends with financial situation. This means that no longer are Americans spending as much as they used to. Businesses and companies will definitely see the effect of that. Many small businesses are on the brink of going out of business. With the population spending less, products will be more expensive to make up for the lost profit. This creates a vicious circle as raising prices means even less people spending more than they need.
A major cause of this is the number of jobs that are given to workers in other countries who will work for less. This means that jobs are being lost in America while other foreigners are gaining jobs. Not only does this hurt the American people, it further hurts our struggling economy. Changes need to be made to help out those with lost jobs. Things will only get worse like a vicious spiral if we don’t make things better.

I think the most important issue facing Americans today is losing jobs and not having a job. Our economy is way down and people are not spending as much because of it. Companies then are laying off employees so families lose their salary and spend even less. The economy is not going to get better until people start buying more but people are not going to buy more until they have a source of income. Therefore our economy cannot get better until companies start to rehire more employees.

The most important issue facing Americans today is the economy. Companies in the United States need to stop borrowing money and getting bailed out. All this has done is increase our federal debt. Taxes need to be raised in order to stabilize our economy.
For example, AIG is only standing because the U.S. treasury gave them $1.5 billion recently. Many people may think that was a good idea but AIG pays Manchester United (a British soccer team) $125 million just for having their logo on the team's uniforms. Small businesses never get bail outs so why should large businesses use the money they are given so carelessly?
Many Americans have been left unemployed due to companies off-shoring and outsourcing. These companies should be penalized because they only did that to raise their profits.
These issues need to be dealt with quickly by the government because too many Americans have been left unemployed and unable to support themselves and their families due to the companies that are being bailed out and wasting the money they have been given. Not only that, but the citizens are going to have to deal with higher taxes just to pay off our federal debt now.

I believe the most important issue facing Americans today is the strength of the economy. The U.S. dollar is not worth what it was years ago. The price of things are to high for people to afford. The unemployment rate is also very high, leaving many without jobs. We do not produce or manufacture enough of our own products in this country anymore. Instead of giving our own people jobs we are buying products from other foreign countries, like China. One major belief of having a good economy is to export more than you import. Our country is spending too much money on oil and manufacturing goods from other foreign countries. In return the value of the American dollar is not worth what is should be.

I do believe that the most important issue facing the citizens of the United States is the amount of people that are out of jobs. This job issue has grown larger and larger over the last couple years and it is the biggest issue for the U.S. because when an American family depends on one or two salaries just to get food on the table, god for bid if one of the parents looses there job, the family will be ruined and they would have to make cuts and everything will go down hill.
Also for the people that are looking for jobs, good luck because it is virtually impossible to find a job any where. This fact makes it harder for younger people to make money and buy a house it is getting to be so hard to get out into the real world.

The most important issue facing Americans is the faltering economy. A strong economy is necessary for Americans to feel secure, safe, and confident in the nation they live in. As America sinks into deeper debt, the overall morale of the country deteriorates; there is a lower birthrate, and fewer people can afford to go to college. People have less money to spend, and business revenues suffer. These are only a few of the numerous effects that suck America into a downward spiral.
Additionally, as Americans see the government pouring money into the war overseas, versus rehabilitating its citizens, disadvantaged Americans resentment for the government increases.
A repaired economy would inspire confidence in American people that they can achieve success, versus being downtrodden and pessimistic. With a repaired economy, America would be able to have a better educated population, an effective healthcare program, and environmental solutions implemented. These aspects are necessary for our society to keep up with a constantly changing global community.

I think the most important problem that this country is facing is the unemployment.
The job loss is making people losse there benfits for them and there kids. Many people
are loosing everything.People cant afford to pay there bills. I know first hand, my mom is out
of work and we are being forced to sell our place just so we could have money. There are thousands out
there that are homeless or that have to give certain things up just to make ends meet. With all this unemployment
comes less money going in to the flow of the government, because people cant afford to buy things like they once
could. Many people are being fired for all the wrong reasons, such as there job cant afford to pay them.

For the thousands of people out of work, not only are they out of a job but they have to find a new job.
In this day in age its harder to get hired than it once was. Many jobs arent hiring for 4 reasons such as,
you might not be quilfied for the job, arent equipted with computers, or your to young or to old for the job, also
they may not be able to aford to pay you. Alot of peoples jobs are being replaced with tecknolegy. It is causing
major problems within finding work. Not everyone knows how to use a computer. For older people who didnt grow
up with computers are being replace, fired or not hired because of that reason.

The job loss is the biggest problem, that this country is facing. Millions are claiming unemployment.
Thow not everyone who is fired gets unemployment. Those who dont collect unemployment are litterally having to go
into there savings or college funds for their children.

I believe that the most important issue of our time is the suffering economy. It has been said that the recession was the bottom and we're beginning to work upwards again, but how can we be so sure? It's taken a toll that may pull away the dominant power of the United States and leave us in a hole that we won't be able to dig ourselves out of.
The people who have been put in place in the government are supposibly trying their best to repair the damage of the loss of jobs, current debt, future debt, and the downturn that many American families have been forced to take. The word debt is no longer looked at as a "what if?" it's looked at as a "what's next?"
There was a point in time in our country were security was realistic for many people in a financial manner. There was an availability of jobs that was present but that has seemed to disappear. Whether it was the family who went from having a lump-sum to having to file for bankruptcy, or someone who was once able to support themselves but is now on food stamps; it's apparent the damage that the recession has done to our country. Not only has it taken a toll on peoples pockets and bank accounts but also the emotional level of our society.
People no longer take the jobs that they have for granted even though they're forced to face a minimized salary nor do they quit the jobs that they're miserable at because they're unsure if there will be another opportunity. In our country of "equal opportunity" there is a lack of opportunities for the people who are willing to work.
Extending the time for unemployment isn't a solution to get people on their feet. I have heard stories of people who make more on unemployment then people who are working hard actually do but doesn't that sound like the country is giving up the image of being hard working?
There is a problem that has to be solved to repair the damages to families and individuals within this country. If the people who are hard-workers are getting paid the same as the people on unemployment are and there's no jobs for the people who have been searching non-stop, that doesn't seem fair. And a country that once held a dominant position will, without a doubt, fall to the bottom like many others have. It's only a matter of time if the right moves aren't made.

I feel the most important issue facing Americans today is the ongoing war it the Middle East. Because the war is being fought against extremists, and people willing to do anything for their religion, the American people are getting nervous about terrorist attacks. Since we are still looking for the leader of the terrorists, Bin Laden, plots against the United States bigger and more catastrophic than 9/11 could possibly be planned. Protecting the nation from dangerous foreign countries is extremely important and keeping these countries under control is the only way to assure peace between them and the United States.

I believe the most important issue facing americans today is the weak economy. The economy has caused people to lose their jobs, taxes are drastically rising, and small busineses are failing. Since most small busineses are failing a majority of people are loosing their jobs and therefore they loose their heaalthcare. So people who were relying on their small business income to support their families, now have nothing. the economy has put most americans in very tough times.

It is my personal belief that the most important issue facing Americans today is the energy crisis. Gas prices are exponentially rising, while the search for fossil fuels continues to result in moral and ethical dilemas. The BP oil spill is considered to be the greatest disaster of Obama's presidency; the resulting pollution, as well as the outrage from consumers, points out the flaws of relying primarily on fossil fuels. The BP oil spill opened many Americans eyes to the impact humanity has on the environment, while also sparking waves of disaproval for the U.S. government. Reasearching and delevoping alternative energy sources, such as solar and biodiesel fuel, can help to lower America's dependecne on foreign-bought oil and also limit environmental pollution. Therefore, The need for alternative energy, the rising gas prices, and the outrage over environemntal disaster make the energy crisis the most important issue facing the nation today.

Not being an avid follower of politics or the news, I have to admit that do not know a lot about what is going on with the American government. What little knowledge I do have is usually about the bigger problems that we face, like the economic crisis, the oil spill or a hurricane (which was a huge disappointment). That’s why even before I looked at the polls, I immediately thought that the biggest crisis we Americans are facing today is obviously the poor economy. Ever since the Dow Jones and the Nasdaq dropped, the government has been in an uproar, with all sorts of people and experts offering their opinions on how they could save the American economy. The 2008 presidential elections had focused on fixing the economy. Even the commercials and ads on T.V. supporting the regional elections and whatnot go on about how this person supported tax cuts, or that person found jobs for more than 100 thousand people; all things that can help improve the economy. America’s huge deficit and poor economy is definitely a huge issue that effects everyone.
When the recession first happen, the gas price shot up to over $4.00 (idk if the recession was the main cause, it just happen around the same time), bajillions of people lost their jobs and we would hear about tons of foreclosed homes. There were statistics comparing which cities was in the worst conditions with, if my memory serves me right, places like Las Vegas and in Florida at the top of the list. If the recession continues, we may have another Great Depression upon us again. The average way of living would go down and U.S. would no longer be the coveted nation that can afford to poke its nose into other countries’ business. Getting Americans out of this economic fix should definitely be top priority to whoever is behind all of this.

I feel the most important issue facing Americans today is the issue of the government overstepping their boundaries in developing government run health care. In my opinion government run agencies generally cost a lot of money, include lots of red tape, paperwork, and inefficient management of the agency. If health care becomes completely governmentally run and operated I feel that many Americans will receive countless and inevitable negative affects of this reform.
For example, Congressman Mike Rogers was diagnosed with bladder cancer at age 19. Statistically in the health care bill 19 year olds do not develop bladder cancer and he would not have been approved for testing, which detected his cancer in the early stages. According to his doctors without the early detection of his disease at 19 he would not be alive today. Making a human being wait to be a certain age in order to be approved for a specific test to perhaps save their life is not something the government should determine based on mere statistics, which does not encompass all cases of illnesses in the “minority” age groups.
A large majority of Americans receive health care through their jobs and in comparison a small percentage do not. Instead of taking away health care from the majority of Americans the Obama administration should only increase the aid of government run agencies like Medicaid for the poor class who cannot afford healthcare. Rather than giving businesses incentives to drop private health care plan for each employee. Now instead of paying 15% for each employees health care plan, businesses will only pay 8% for adapting to Obamacare or be penalized and additional 8%. Of course many employers will choose to drop private health care and that is simply wrong.

I think the issue that Americans are facing today is struggling with jobs.
I say that because a lot of people are cutting down on the workers and also a lot of companies are hiring illegal immigrants to work for them and they are paying them less than minimum wage which is causing us a problem because its getting harder and harder everyday to find a job because there are so many immigrants taking those jobs from us.

The most important issue that Americans today is the economy is really bad. Since the economy is bad its hurting us financial because all the cut jobs. Also with cut jobs no one can pay or maintain what they have been paying for. Also if we do not have jobs the stores that we have, would never make any money and they would have to shut down cause of no money distributing. If the economy is bad then there would be no mobs for manufacturing and there would be no trade so we would be more in debt.
