“Mr. Bush said a precipitous withdrawal from Iraq could cause the sort of chaos that occurred in Southeast Asia after Americans left Vietnam.” This is an aside that’s barely present. It’s a concept scarcely mentioned and rarely considered. It’s a whisper amid thousands of screaming democrats who demand the immediate withdrawal of troops. What about Iraq? What about the country we’ve helped to tear apart?
I don’t support the immediate withdrawal of American troops, or the ending the war today. Nor do I support an indefinite occupation of Iraq. There’s no question as to whether or not we should leave. The argument is how quickly to leave, and what methods of withdrawal will most benefit the stability of such a fragile country. Whether we’re involved for six more months or six more years, America should have a presence in Iraq until the job is done. We can’t leave a country in shambles, nor can we leave it to be taken over by yet another terrorist regime. In the long and tumultuous history of Iraq, America needs to be the country that succeeded, the country that successfully introduced and developed a peaceful, democratic Iraq. If not this, than the United States is nothing more to Iraq than another in a line of “liberators”.

As America’s President George Bush has stated numerous times that he will not pull out of Iraq until the job the is done. Some fell very displeased with what has been happening. On May 9th at the Whitehouse republicans sat down with Mr. Bush to discuss his Iraq policy. Although, the republicans stand by him and against the democratic perspective of withdrawing from the country, they fell that something needs to be done about “The Iraq Situation”. The republicans made it very clear to Mr. Bush that public opinion about the war was crumbling. They voiced their ideas about what should be done. Apparently Mr. Bush listened. I find this hard to believe considering the president seems to go about his own business and not take suggestions from anyone. He might have quickly listened to the ideas and quickly dismissed them. The article states that if we draw out of Iraq now then it would be like withdrawing from South East Asia during Vietnam and the government would collapse. In my opinion it all ready has collapsed. It collapsed before we even stepped into to “help”.

This week a meeting was held with President George Bush to discuss the “future” in the Iraq. Many representatives voiced their individual opinions about our continuous involvement; all of which ended in a warning that things needed to improve. The republicans were said to be very “candid” with the President, stating that the “public support of the war was crumbling in their swing districts.” Despite the harsh facts, such as that his “approval rating was at 5% in one section of his Northern Virginia District,” Bush remained calm and seemed to be very grateful and appreciative of the comments. On Wednesday, a veto on the house bill was passed, which would help to finance operations through July, requiring President Bush to write a report regarding our advancement in Iraq. Following this, congress would then vote once again deciding to either limit or release the money wanted by the administration. Many believe that we are now on the right track. I personally believe that we should have been out of Iraq a long time ago. This war is endless and we have yet to really make a difference there. Staying longer will only create more hostility towards President Bush and create more problems. Why continue involving ourselves when our time there for the past four years has not been very beneficial and is continuing to "go downhill."

The congress, as well many political men and Americans do not support Bush's decision of not pulling out the troops from Iraq.
The meeting was held to discuss the future in Iraq but is there anything the government can do now?
Many people agree that this war has gone too far, and there is no need to sacrify even more american lives. But what happens if we pull out the troops now? Nobody knows for sure, but the fact is that the American government still doesn't have complete control of Iraq and pulling out the troops now is a very risky precedure. The Iraqian government is completely unstable, therefore, it could result in a civil war or totally collapse the country, and it could also spread along its borders, affecting a lot of countries which United States depends of energy wise. If we keep our troops there, are we one day going to be able to pull out the troops safely? Thre is no such an answer. I personally never agreed with the war but I don't think pressuring Bush to pull out the troops is the right thing to do now. The military is already there, so now it is time to considered strategies rather then just pull out the troops, it is time for the Congress to support the President and then working together, figure out any possible solutions .
